Take the routine off the queue. Keep the controls.

Finance carries two pressures at once — a flood of small, repetitive requests and zero tolerance for getting the controlled stuff wrong. The AI Assistant absorbs the first without loosening the second: it handles the clean majority in-flow and routes only genuine exceptions to a person, with sign-off kept human wherever money moves.

Finance policy and approval workflow

An employee requests a travel advance; the Assistant checks the finance policy knowledge base, verifies entitlement, routes for approval, and shows an audit trail.

What it absorbs

Three workflows carry it.

High-frequency, low-judgement

The everyday payroll questions, answered instantly.

What's my pay date, where's my payslip, how do I update my bank details — through connections to the payroll/HRIS system, an employee asks in plain language and gets an instant, accurate answer from the system of record, or makes a routine self-service change like adjusting direct-deposit details — without a ticket or a wait.

Sensitive by design

A direct-deposit change is fraud-sensitive, so the Assistant confirms identity (step-up verification) before it touches the record, and the change is logged in full. Two-minute self-service for the employee; a complete, auditable trail for finance.

Policy-check at volume

Clear the clean majority. Flag only the exceptions.

An employee submits a claim in conversation; the Assistant checks it against the expense policy held in a Knowledge Base, clears the clean majority for approval, and flags only genuine exceptions for a human — so reviewers spend time on the handful that need judgement. For travel, it handles the cash advance in the same place — checked against policy and entitlement, filed, and routed for approval.

NextNext

Run as an ambient agent, the same policy check happens continuously, not in a month-end scramble.

AI Assistant
I need a $1,500 advance for next week's trip.

Compress the hand-offs

From “I need this” to a matched invoice.

Procure-to-pay is a long chain — need, requisition, approval, PO, goods receipt, invoice, payment — and most delay is hand-offs and manual matching. The Assistant compresses both ends: raise a requisition conversationally (“I need 10 licences of X for my team”); it captures a standard structured form and routes it for approval by amount and department, then generates the PO on approval. At the back end it runs the three-way match against PO and goods receipt, clearing what reconciles and flagging exceptions for AP. Packaged as a Skill, the procedure runs the same way every time.

Money moves with human sign-off

The Assistant does the assembly and the checking, not the paying.

Where the permission model earns its keep

The strict lane.

Scoped tightly by role
An employee sees and edits only their own pay, expenses, and requests; approvers see their team's; finance roles see the controlled functions.
Step-up + human sign-off
Sensitive actions require identity verification; money-moving steps require a person to approve.
Everything recorded
Every write runs through Connections and is logged by Governance & Audit, with policy checks grounded in your own Knowledge Bases.
This is the difference between “AI that can touch finance” and “AI a finance team can actually switch on.”
